Nana House Ericeira: Collaborative Dining for Social and Ecological Solutions

At Nana House Ericeira, we establish a platform for meaningful engagement and collective action. In collaboration with the AWAKE Global Community, our charity dining events aim to address critical social and ecological challenges, directly supporting the impactful work of Cabarete Sostenible and Condrik Tenerife.

Cultivating Impact Through Shared Experiences

Each meal at our charity events extends beyond culinary enjoyment; it represents an opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable future. These collaborative dinners are designed to facilitate informed discourse on sustainability, community development, and global awareness. Gathered around the table, we explore the significance of collective action, demonstrating that beneficial initiatives can be integrated with shared experiences.

To translate our collective engagement into concrete progress, our charity dining events are dedicated to bolstering specific organizations with profound missions.

AWAKE Global Community

AWAKE, a non-profit organization established in 2016, initially focused on "Awareness for Kids Education." It has since evolved into a global community of professionals aiming to foster ecological consciousness and social responsibility. AWAKE's core mission is to develop and implement solutions for contemporary ecological and social issues. This is achieved through strategic collaborations with local organizations and educational institutions across regions such as the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, and Senegal. AWAKE's approach emphasizes practical, community-driven projects that address fundamental challenges and empower individuals to contribute to sustainable and equitable societies.

Cabarete Sostenible

Located on the North Shore of the Dominican Republic, Cabarete Sostenible is a non-profit organization founded in 2020. Formed through a coalition of NGOs, community leaders, and volunteers, its primary objective is to mitigate the severe food insecurity crisis in the region. With approximately 80% of Cabarete's population experiencing food insecurity, Cabarete Sostenible implements a sustainable food sovereignty program designed to enable communities to cultivate their own food sources. Current efforts include the distribution of nutritious food to vulnerable families, the establishment of community gardens and permaculture farms, and comprehensive food education programs. Future plans involve the development of a water purification and bottling station, intended to operate as a social enterprise, thereby addressing both long-term food and water security for the community.

Condrik Tenerife

The Condrik Tenerife represents a dedicated biodiversity and conservation initiative, developed by Master's students in Marine Biology at the University of La Laguna. This project specifically addresses the study and protection of elasmobranchs, sharks, rays, and chimeras, within the waters of the Canary Islands. Condrik aims to enhance awareness of these marine species' critical ecological role as regulators within the food chain. Data collection utilizes advanced methods such as Baited Remote Underwater Video Stations (BRUVS), complemented by community engagement through workshops and educational outreach at diving and fishing centers. The overarching objective is to deter illegal and unsustainable marine practices and cultivate a stronger social commitment to ocean conservation, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water).
