Focus, freedom and happyness
For me, surfing is more than just a sport—it’s a moment of freedom where I can escape the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with myself. The ocean provides a unique opportunity to leave behind the weight of external pressures, and simply be. There are no distractions. No phone, no emails. It’s a place where I easily lose track of time, and get completely immersed by the present moment-I simply stop thinking.
Being out in nature, surrounded by the vastness of the ocean, is an experience that always grounds me. It’s humbling and empowering at the same time. The ocean can be challenging and sometimes hard to predict. At times it requires me to fully trust in both nature and my own abilities. These days my attention is solely on the ocean, on reading the waves and responding to their every movement. I am reminded that I am a part of something much larger, yet I also need to rely on my own strength, my skills, and my instincts to navigate through the water - and that's when I feel most alive. It’s an ongoing challenge that forces me to be brave, to push my boundaries, and to trust in my abilities.
Some sessions can be a challenging reminder of how capable we are when we stay focused and grounded.
Surfing demands that we stay present and I believe it's this single-minded focus that forces us to disconnect from everything else and hence the detachment from the daily grind that makes it so special, or even addictive. It gives me clarity and a sense of peace. It clears my mind, calms my soul, and makes everything else fade into the background. In the water, I find happiness. There’s a simple joy in feeling the water around me - floating me, while I am sometimes just drifting around and waiting. It’s a pure, unfiltered happiness that doesn’t need anything else. Above all, surfing allows me to be me. There’s no pretension, no need to fit into someone else’s expectations. In the ocean, I can simply exist as myself—free, authentic, and in tune with nature. It’s a powerful reminder that I don’t need anything external to feel whole. I have everything I need within me. Surfing nurtures my self-confidence and my connection to my true self, giving me the strength to face the world on land with renewed clarity.
In the end, it’s not just about catching waves—it’s about discovering who I am and what I’m capable of, one wave at a time.
